I’ve been reconsidering exactly how to spend these 10K hours in the last three days.
I had a meeting with a guy, James Crawford of Odyssey Networks, about some open writing assignments – pilots for existing books. I really liked him and got genuinely excited about working up a pitch for the shows. That hasn’t happened in a long time.
That meeting, plus listening to Aaron Sorkin at the recent Q & A, has made me want to start writing some spec stuff again. It’s made me want to write again.
In case anyone is wondering, these hours are real. I’ve actually been keeping track. 941 hours is quite a bit. All just mad, free flowing creativity. Doing anything I want to do. It’s really helped.
I’m considering doing art on Monday, queueing up my work on Saatchi Art an Tumblr, entering into a couple of juried exhibitions, then spending Tuesday – Friday writing a spec novel. I really am going to try to take the weekends off — I’m finding it’s necessary in order to jumpstart me into the week again.
In the meantime, I’ve been making art and poetry. My last three days of work:
Thinking, rearranging, reordering…
Have a happy Saturday everyone!
